According to Peter Bogdanovich himself, who has been a better film historian than directory (arguably), the golden age of America Cinema was 1912-1972, roughly. I agree. What you are voting for, so to speak, is Hollywood's distant past and not its presence or foreseeable future.

In fact, what seems to about to replace Hollywood is Bollywood, that is now producing wholesome, if often silly entertainment, with intelligent, educated, articulate actors and directors, who along with that industry will grow. Hollywood is in the sewer!

It’s funny that PB cuts off the great period so early into his own career. I would end the great period in the early 1980s. It could be great again if people around here and many others would take cinema seriously like they used to in the 1950s.
