Look at the two recent stories about the little girls that disappeared. Caylee and Haighlee, or something? One was a big story because the Mom was hot, the other is a big story because the first story was played out.

I remember about thirty years ago, a little six year old Vietnamese girl was raped, murdered and left in a dumpster. I knew some people who lived in the same apartment complex. There was one newspaper story on it, buried in the back pages. When they caught the guy, it didn't even make the news.

In the Harry Potter books, Hermione told a reporter, "I thought the Daily Prophet existed to tell the truth." The reporter responded, "The Prophet exists to sell itself, you silly girl." Same with CNN. Drug wars and dead kids on the Mexican border don't sell advertising. Soap opera tales of intrigue with good looking women and missing molested girls do.

Because back then they were gooks. Hell, even John McCain called them gooks in 2000. Thank God Bush was nominated over McCain.
