I have thought about the scenario a bit since Obama too over. Not too concerned about myself but do worry about my grand children.
In this particular area, water will never be a problem. Food is not too much if all you want to do is survive. A lot of dried beans and rice are inexpensive and go a long way. Probably some spices and canned goods too. Salt will probably always be available but is so cheap I can see no reason not to have a lot saved.
At least two .22 rifles and/or pistols and a lot of ammo, several thousand rounds at least. A good 12 gauge repeater and at least one powerful rifle and pistol along with a moderate supply of ammo. Also several powerful air rifles with a lot of pellets seem like a good idea to me.
What else is anyones guess.
Only one think I think you need to consider. Do you remember where the tradition of throwing salt over the shoulder came from? It was because it salt had value and it was a sin to spill it. I do recommend considering some of the staples such as salt, sugar, pepper, flour... Best case it will have trade value
keep them safe...maybe not even at your home...but don't let them get lost in the banking system, what is left of it....

Your suggestion re two .22 rifles is an excellent one. Buy them and a couple bricks of ammo for each gun. Walmart had the bricks last week. I have basically self defense guns, and the 22’s could be game providers and protection weapons.
Yesterday morning, we were awaken when part of a flock of wild turkeys did a stop and go on our roof. That was one heck of a wakeup call.
As the full flock worked down our street and the yards on both sides, my mouth started watering for the taste of good wild turkey. Good and powerful air rifles with scopes could easily put a head shot into a nearby wild turkey.
The largest salt mine in the US is under Detroit.
