I have no objection to anything on the list but I’d add a high power rifle - something with a little more punch than 5.56 or 7.62x39. Maybe an M1A or FAL if the cash is there or a $300 Yugo Mauser for the budget conscious.

An SKS or M4 will keep the wolf from the door but a .308 will also keep the bear out of the bedroom.

Agreed. That was my reaction to the article, as well. Now, you can shoot deer with that 12 gauge, but only at shorter ranges.

I've looked and an M1A1 seems to be what I want. We have a gun show tomorrow. I'd like to ask all here for any advice about what to buy, avoid, and pricing. I know they went pricey in the last few months along with many other guns and rifles so how much is too much? Info on clips would be helpful as to price, how many I would need, and if I do buy the gun would it be better to get them online instead?

Most web searches send me to info about the M1 Army tank or gives me M1 comparisons to other rifles, most info I already know. Anyone have a good specific links to a website on this? Thank you all.
