The mayor and Mrs. Newsom are pregnant!
Rumors began circulating around the Internet and City Hall this afternoon after a gossip blog said friends of Jennifer Siebel Newsom, 34, had revealed she was pregnant. After an emergency powwow, Gavin Newsom's handlers confirmed the happy news.
"The mayor and the first lady are thrilled to be embarking on this adventure together and they appreciate your good wishes," a statement read.
No word yet on when the baby's due.
Naturally, the City Hall chitchat has turned to how this might play in Newsom's run for governor. Analysts say that starting a family can only help the campaign - and maybe reverse Newsom's long-standing playboy image.
"The classic political ad is the typical American family: handsome husband, handsome wife and darling child," said Barbara O'Connor, a professor of political communications at Cal State Sacramento. "As long as people feel that it is a real relationship, it can go a long way to having them forget some of his earlier indiscretions."

Definition of 'indiscretion':
–noun
1. lack of discretion; imprudence.
2. an indiscreet act, remark, etc.
What Gavin did, which if I remember correctly was boinking the wife of his campaign manager, is more an example of industrial strength sleaze and betrayal rather than an indiscretion.
