He was Navy Secretary until he quit ahead of being fired. As for being a “solid Marine”, I’d like to know where it says in the Marine Corps manual that it’s A-OK to go driving around in a car pointing guns at civilians because they don’t happen to be the same shade as you (Watts). I must’ve missed that. Or his other “honorable” actions like running anti-Semitic campaigns. Pedophilic writings ? Yeah. All that great stuff BEFORE he reached the Senate. Of course, Benedict Arnold was a pretty stellar an honorable military officer, too... until he wasn’t. Webb is despicable and a disgrace to the uniform. George Allen was more of a man than Webb will ever be. Oh, and I hope you appreciate Webb’s vote for Porkulus, too. That just happened to be the key vote that kept that abomination from being halted. Thanks a lot.
Sorry, but I have to disagree...in the first place, no one who has served and been honorably discharged disgraces an American uniform IMO. Secondly, he was a Silver Star winner (hardly despicable). And, if you'd closely scrutinize the history of George "Macaca" Allen (hiding Jewish heritage, penchant for nooses and rebel flags, etc.) you'd might be a bit more careful about tossing around those antisemitic and racism charges.
