That's comparable to the number of cases of polio during the early part of the 20th century. A bit less than the worst years.

And of course, before polio was defeated there were a number of cases caused by the Salk vaccine. More than 28.

It's the percentages that are pertinent since the population has grown since 1900.

However, unlike HPV, polio spread easily during NORMAL human interaction.
