Second of all, I can count on the fingers of one-hand the number of people I personally know or contacted as a volunteer for the Palin* campaign that had any problem with Oba Mao's race . . . and we contacted hundreds! The vast majority of us would have enthusistically supported a real African-American like Dr. Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or even a moderate like Michael Steele.
* Yes, I said the Palin campaign, because McCain was baggage even if he was the top of the ticket. I know, because our local GOP Hq. couldn't give away McCain lawn signs before Sarah joined the ticket and couldn't keep them in stock afterward.
The history that you described of African slave traders needs to be publicized. Most people think whites sold Africans into slavery. This is one of those revisionist thoughts like teh Civil War was fought to free the slaves.
