ANDERSON, SC — Holding up signs and saying the workers on the project were not documented as legal United States residents, more than a dozen people protested Wednesday outside the Simpson Road construction site for a city of Anderson fire station.

TOPICS: Local News
KEYWORDS: andersonsc; illegals; protest
Update:New news article from different source

A company, I have been told. ‘That hires illegal aliens’ won the contract to build the fire station in Anderson, SC. This company is paying its workers less than $10 an hour.

Currently there are some people researching the business for a licenses and other require documents. So far the search as turn up nothing, like the company the does not exist.

According to Mr. Denhardt, The Anderson Police department shows up to inform the protesters they can protest without a $25 permit. Chad the owner of Summerall Masonry Inc who started the protest asked the officer to investigate the illegal alien works. The officer responded they cannot investigate because of Profiling.

According to article on the www.independentmail.com, ‘Anderson City Manager John Moore said city police officers are not trained or authorized to enforce federal and state employment laws. The city relies on the contractor to uphold those employment laws.’

My question for the city manager, could the police pulled over the vehicle with no tags full of illegal aliens leaving the job site?

Why did the workers leave the site if they are legal?

Quotes from site:

Eddy Cowins – in the trade for 37 years: People in South Carolina want to work, families are hungry, they can not find work, illegas are taking the jobs.

Badley from Spartanburg, South Carolina, owns Construction Company Vets returning from Iraq can not find work in the construction industry.

I am listening to the Senate on C-Span. The conference committee that redid the “stimulus” bill TOOK OUT the requirement that people taking jobs generated from the stimulus bill needed to be verified through E-Verify to see if they were U.S. Citizens.

Therefore, the “stimulus” bill is a bill designed to employ illegal aliens.

I wish I was kidding, but I am not.

IF, if the project is funded with Public money it should be subject to the Davis-Bacon Act, this requires the employees doing the respective work be paid the PREVAILING WAGE in that area, this is available from the Owner/City, as it was included in the bid documents.

Now comes the fun part, the Contractor MUST submit certified payroll reports for each week of the project.
On this payroll report is the employees name, address, social security number and pay rate (including any benefits). Not submitting them stops the Owner from paying the contractor. Lying on the reports is fraud and the Feds aggressively presue it with heavy fines and jail time.

To add insult to injury, the House voted in a landslide to put the E-Verify requirement in. Pelosi/Reid said the people’s house does not count and put it back in. This is a travesty.

Under stimulus anyone making over $70,000 will be taxed blind.

Watch Obama reduce the $70,000.00 cap to $50,000.00 and then raise the minimum wage and you will have Most American Citizens (legal and illegal) being taxed blind.

We will then all be dependent on the Government for our existence.

Yes you are correct, I did not know the name of the act. That was one of big complaints at the protest.

Simply ask to see the certified payroll reports. If the Contractor has reported ANY false information, such as Social Security Numbers or PAID, not just reported he paid less than the rate, he is in for a very unpleasant time.

I am a Heavy Construction Contractor working in both New Jersey and the 5 Boroughs of NYC, we are 100% Union and I still must report and check to see if the people sent me by the respective unions are citizens or legal aliens, have had a couple illegals come through and no, they do not get hired.
