There’s nothing wrong with debate. As long as none of us resort to meaningless, thoughtless tirades.
THEY WHERE NOT!!!
Yet you don't get what you're saying in your previous post:
Actually, I think let the cheapest labor be hired would be more appropriate.
What happens when McDonald's hires people from India or etc. to do your job at the drive-thru because the immigrants will do your job for less money?
No, sir. Again, I say that if I am supposed to accept losing my job to foreigners and then lose any other job to immigrants then there will be hell to pay.
Then all you have to do is join others in boycotting the company that uses outsourced labor. If enough of you do that, management will get the message. All I meant in #2 was that it's not the govt's job to tell businesses who they can hire and who they cannot (so long as they are legal of course).
The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa in the United States under the Immigration & Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H). It allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. The regulations define a specialty occupation as requiring theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor including, but not limited to, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, medicine and health, education, law, accounting, business specialties, theology, and the arts. However, in reality, the H-1B visa is used by corporations in any case where American citizens can be replaced with lower cost foreign workers. For example, fashion models, with no formal job training of any kind, are commonly given H-1B visas to replace American citizens at lower cost to corporations.
Did Congress intentionally allow for loopholes? Hmmm!
Any port in a storm, I guess. I’ve been through it, I know just what you’ll do to keep body and soul and family together. Hope you will be as richly blessed as I have been. I’m still crawling out of the hole loss of income created, but I’m starting to see daylight and just hate to see another load of fresh manure piled on top of me.
It takes years to recover from the damage just a few crooks and educated morons can cause. What do you get when you educate a moron? A moron with a piece of paper.
Thank you, my FRiend.
You'd rather buy communist made crap. Never mind the "domestic" nonunion manufacturing that remains. You're screwing them just as surely, because communist made crap is cheaper.
I’m sure they said the exact thing about your ancestors, no offense intended. I seem to recall my buddy’s grandfather complain about how his dad was hounded in the late 1800s and early 1900s when they immigrated here.
Taking issue with foreigners rather than the companies who hire them is the wrong approach.
Good points....
If we were not out-sourcing jobs...we would not have needed a stimulus bill. And the individual states would not be having such massive deficits. How will California get out of their fiscal mess by taxing illegals and H1-B’s ?
I think this is one article in which the headline answers the question posed.
If we were not out-sourcing jobs...we would not have needed a stimulus bill
How do you mean?
The federal government was originally supported by tariffs, KevinDavis. Do you support tariffs, or do you think they're "protectionist?"
Are you saying that the Founders were un-American? Your transnational corporatist ideology is painting you into some rather doltish corners.
The difference between today and the late 19th-early 20thC immigrant hires is that todays immigrant hires are strictly to non-market lower the wages...where our ancestors immigrated because their was a real demand for their labor....many of our ancestors immigrated because new lands needed to be settled and farmed, and new factories needed labor.
There is no market demand for immigrant labor today....if there truly was, their wages would be the same, if not higher, than what an American is being paid....the laws of “supply and demand” would dictate that
I have been happily unemployed for over two months and burning through savings like a solid fuel rocket burns through propellant -- without taking one single penny from the taxpayer. AND, I am competing for jobs for which hordes of other H1-B's are competing as well. In the end I want to get hired (like I always have) only because I was 'better' and provided a better value to my employer despite my higher asking salary than some third worlder.
Again, if you want to see a revolution in this country just keep this crap up and when enough Americans are out of work and angry enough this nation will go off like a bomb. Mark my words and remember them when you find yourself having to choose which side you're on.
In theory, the "best" would be hired. In practice, the foreigner who live in a 2 bedroom apartment with 25 other foreigners, is willing to work for less and will be hired, thus depriving an American of a job.
What's that old saying, that a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged? You're about to get mugged.
