>>>>I have no faith in the news givers. All lies anymore.<<<<

I hate to break this to you guys, but taint nothin new...

The first time I REALLY understood that politicians would lie through their teeth to you was in December 1962...

I was in the Army, and we had been mobilized to Homestead AFB in Florida - When JFK and Jackie came down there and welcomed all the cuban refugees - (Press reported Jackie’s welcome that was in Spanish as the big news) I had a top secret and cryptographic clearance along with most of the others in my ASA outfit. I was one of the ones who was selected to be posted about 20 feet from the podium with my trusty M1 Carbine..... Anyway, I heard what was said - not just over the PA system, I was close enough to hear their voices... Well, JFK invited all the patriotic Cubans to go to the tables that were set up around the perimeter and sign up for a force that we would arm, equip and train to invade and liberate Cuba... They did by the hundreds and hundreds...

Well, a few of the papers added his invitation after they swooned over Jackie’s Spanish sentence. Immediately, there was a huge denial that he had said any such thing, he was being mis-quoted in the press - Guess what... for the next two weeks, that whole base was in a state of turmoil - trying to muster all the Cubans OUT of the Army - Oh, yes it does take longer to get someone out than in.....

Events in Dallas and the School Book Depository and Jack Ruby, etc... I don’t trust newspaper reports on that...

Then there was Lyndon Baines Johnson - I had some insider information on some of the shenanigans pulled down in Johnson County... like ballot boxes somehow fell off the back of the pickup from outlying (non-supporting of LBJ) polls on the way to the Court House to be counted... (and never found) Then there was another election that was contested and before the ballots could be recounted - wouldn’t you know - the Courthouse burned to the ground - with the ballots all inside. Gee - dimocrats won again...

But, I swear, I don’t know about voters either, even when they know the backgrounds, they gravitate to the ‘good ole boy’ in a race... I once campaigned for a candidate who was running for County Judge for Parker County... He was a young, smart, straight thinking fella with a Law Degree and was working in his father’s law firm - the opponent was a kid who had been kicked out of 3 different colleges (party boy) had never succeeded at anything.. His Daddy who owned the local Cotton Gin was trying to find something he could do - ANYTHING he could do besides partying... Guess who won... Yep. Partyboy by a landslide. Oh, he was a dimocrat.

You may have heard of the lawyers family.... His mother was Mary Martin (remember Peter Pan) and his brother was Larry Hagman (Remember Dallas TV program)..... Yep, Lawyer Gary Hagman didn’t have a chance for County Judge - Party Boy partied for years in office...

LOL See Wneighbor - Lloyd isn’t the only one who gets that way....... ;-)

Nope. I know that. Was just commiserating on the subject. I got a couple of things from my s-i-l who just retired from the army that are along the lines of what you've posted too. Only I won't post because don't want s-i-l to have problems.

LBJ stuffed the ballot boxes and burned the courthouse in Duval county. Webb county also had a great many names on their voted roster of people who resided in the cemetary at the time of the election. It's not a secret and about everybody knows about it, I guess nobody had enough clout to go against the old SOB.

The yellow dog mentality is still here. I'm in a rual county and they don't even have local candidates who are "R". We vote for local elections in the primaries and if you don't vote in the dimocRAT primary you don't vote on local offices. I am pretty familiar with the mentality, I talked to my Grama about politics till I was blue in the face. She agreed with me on issues but she refused to vote anything other than dimocRAT because her daddy told her never to vote for anything else. Grama was not an ignorrant woman though knowing that she voted like that would make you think it. She was so set in her ways about it that in her final weeks in the hospital when she was working on saying her goodbyes she popped out of sleep one day and said to me, "Well I'm not going to be able to cancel out your vote in the next election." She died within 3 weeks of that and didn't get to vote in the 2004 election. When I went to vote her name was still on the roster.... I was *so* tempted to get an absentee ballot in her name. ...LOL... okay to make a joke on her. But she was gone so no point in breaking laws.

Alas, the other 3 of my grandparents had the same voting mentality. My grandfather on the other side even encouraged me with some politics that I did around town. We were fighting higher taxes. He said I was fighting on the right side. But, every last election in his life he marked that "D" box on the form.

~sigh~

At least my kids get it. They know how to vote smart. LOL

They follow history very well, when it suits them.

There are a lot of folks who don’t buy the JFK murder stories.

Mafia, crooked Johnson/democrats, cuba and russia are my picks, depends on the day it is asked, which I choose.
