First experience I had with hypnosis was a show my mother took me,my brother and his girl friend to. It was at a small restaurant club my Mom worked at. She had met the hypnotist and asked if it would be okay to bring us to the show. I was fifteen my brother and his girl were sixteen.
I watched the show and had complete skepticism about the entire thing and then lo and behold my brother was one of the audience members who went under.
He was just in the audience... in the back... but very susceptible to the signals the hypnotist was sending.
One thing the hypnotist said to us was that hypnotism could never force someone to do something they would not ordinarily do... like commit murder. Perhaps voting for a candidate does not rise to the level of scrutiny in an individual’s psyche?
The hypnotist... Pat Collins.
I saw a show like that when I was overseas..we were told that if one resisted hypnosis they would not go under the spell, one had to be open to it. So I don’t know about this other bit that a person would not do what was counter to their ordinary behaviour. I saw people fall under the spell and make complete and utter fools of themselves and not know that they did this until told.
