back when we used to do things. Empire State building was completed in less than 18 months. The paper work ansd lawsuits would take 10 years today

One time I was looking through some old books belonging to my family and inside one I found a ticket to the top of the Singer Building. According to Wikipedia this was the world’s tallest building from 1908 to 1909.

I believe the actual building construction time was 13 months and 15 days. Amazing. 1250 feet tall and completed in 1931.

That’s actually the Met Life Tower. Tallest in the world from 1909 to 1913 at 700 ft. Surpassed by the Woolworth building at 792 ft. The Singer building was 612 ft, tallest from 1908 to 1909, and until Sept 11 the tallest building demolished.

Next to the Met Life Tower (not in your photo) is the base of what was supposed to be the world’s tallest building if completed. The Great Depression dashed their plans however. It does have good elevator service. Only 30 stories, but has 30 elevators.
