Another big Tudor history fan here. Thanks for the book tips. Have you read Margaret George’s big fat historical novel “The Autobiography of Henry VIII with Notes by His Fool, Will Somers”? Very readable and for the most part well researched.
NO! I will put that on my book list right now!
I am currently reading “Bloody Mary” as I haven’t really focused alot on her spefically and wanted to get some more background on her.
I’ve read George’s, Gregory’s, and Weirs...but not Frasers.
I recently read a good book “the rise and fall of anne boleyn” by Retha Warnicke. Very interesting theory about anne boleyn and the men executed with her.
Have you guys read Mary Luke’s bio of Catherine of Aragon? If not, do so. A really good read.
Let’s get AAM over here and we can form our own club!
FWIW, Philippa Gregory tends to write unencumbered by details like, say, history and fact. And her fiction ... ugh. Once again, a female novelist has to inject modern feminist theory into a story that contained none of it.
Weir and Fraser, on the other hand, I like quite a bit.
