Anyone have any experience with this nasty piece of spyware. I had not even heard about it, until this morning when I put it on my neighbor's computer. It would have been bad enough if I had done it to my own, it's horribe I did it to his...so...what's the best way of ridding myself of this evil interloper. And for once, I'm using that term about something other than Obama!
Thanks!
What nasty piece of spyware?
antivirus 2009.
google it. There are some sites that have detailed instructions on how to get rid of it. You’ll have to turn it off using “msconfig” and edit your registry. If you aren’t comfortable doing that you may want to take it to a technician. It is a nasty piece of work and I’ve found it easier just to re-format and re-install.
Removal tool http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html
You can download Windows Defender and it will remove it.
You can try http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html but this is a really nasty guy to get red of. You may end up backing up your data and reloading the system.
My computer came with a D drive that can be used to put my computer back to factory condition. Can that drive ever be infected? ( And yeah, I know I should have don't a back-up ...)
Here’s another video tutorial. There are lots of them:

Can you tell us how your computer got it, so the rest of us can be aware?
Ping
Our problem tracking software has a term for what I believe happened: “Technical User Error”.
I've tried all the top anti-viruses over the years, and the only one I recommend (and what other IT depts concur with) is AVG.
You can download the free version HERE and the price of the paid version is in line with all the other companies. AVG is a superior product.

Behavior
This program can be downloaded from a Web page and must be manually installed.
The program reports false or exaggerated system security threats on the computer.
If you are looking for a free antivirus software package, let me suggest Avast!
I’ve been using it for year (on both xp and vista). Never had a problem with it.
Meaning the user opened an attachment they shouldn’t have and that the virus was in the attachment?
Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
Update the virus definitions.
Run a full system scan.
Delete any values added to the registry.
This darn thing ruined a computer of mine. You have to go into the registry and delete every bit of it to be rid of it. Finally I just reformated the hard drive. I was one of the dumbest things I ever did, by clicking on their banner. This thing just takes over. Even my ISP was calling me with automated messages saying that I had a virus. You should NOT send any emails to anyone until you have removed this from your 'puter. :(

I tried AVG. Nope. Avast! works better and is more efficient; and yes, it’s free.
