Oh, I hope you have a scrub jay family moving in! Although, you might want to wear a helmet when you go outside around their nest. Mine know me and let me come near their babies, but Precocious’ parents were like kamikaze fighters, dive bombing anything that came near “their” lemon tree. My mom went out and bought a huge brimmed hat to wear outside. It didn’t help much.
Yes, it was when I got too close to the tree that I discovered the nest I was watching belonged to the scrub jays. The twiggy branches are dense, so it is hard to see their blue plumage, but their raspy call is distinctive.
They aren’t around much so I’m not sure what stage the nesting is in.
