Rising from ashes is Kurt Warner's Super Bowl calling card
NY Daily News ^ | 1/29/09 | Ralph Vacchiano

The end of one of the greatest NFL stories ever was supposed to have come on Nov. 24, 2004, high above the country on a flight, coincidentally, from Phoenix. That's where Tom Coughlin first pondered making the switch that figured to mark the end of Kurt Warner's career.

The next day, Warner, then 33, was a backup quarterback, just like he was when he started his career. He was destined to spend the rest of his NFL life holding a clipboard, mentoring young quarterbacks, or serving as an insurance policy for a competitive team.

Nobody saw his resurrection coming. Nobody who watched his nine starts with the Giants imagined there was any greatness left.

“I think the perception around the league about me was that I couldn't play anymore,” Warner says, “(They thought) ‘There's no more football left in him. He's basically just trying to survive. (The Cardinals) may bring this guy in because of his name, but it's probably going to be just like everything else: The Cardinals won't win. Kurt Warner can't really play. So I guess it's a fine mix.'”

We got your back, Kurt. Make sure that the state and owner of that team who went for odumba (and promised a WH visit from the team) goes home empty-handed.

Plunkett?

Warner actually has talent, Plunkett really didn’t.

There’s a good article today about Warner by Jason Whitlock on foxsports dot com.

If Kurt Warner could ‘rise from the dead’ don’t you think it would be possible to ‘rehabilitate Sarah Palin and make her a credible candidate in 2012?

I didn’t hear about the WH visit promise. Screw the stillers. Go Cards.

I dunno. She can't really throw a fade pass.

Cardinals Notebook: Arizona players putting a lid on trash talk
Cardinals’ feathers ruffled by Obama favoring Steelers

“It was linebacker Karlos Dansby midway through the regular season who first uttered a phrase remembered around the Arizona locker room: “We want to be the inaugural championship team President[Barack] Obama invites to the White House.”

Well, now that Obama — through political ally and friend Dan Rooney — is an unabashed Steelers supporter, some Cardinals players are ticked at the new leader of the free world.

Nothing in the article about his deep faith in Christ. Warner once came to my church Willow Creek. He’s a real Christian. He’s the reason I’ll be cheering for the Cardinals this Sunday (even though they are the underdogs again.)

Kurt is a great guy. I would love for it to be 3 Superbowls or more.

here’s a gameplan tip for Warner-
Throw the ball in the general vicinity of Larry Fitzgerald!
And please beat the steelers-I want to see that punk writer for the Pittsburgh PG (Ron Cook) who voted for Jason White for the Heisamn (instead of Larry Fitzgerald)-live to regret that foolish vote.

After the Steelers won the AFC Trophy, did you hear Big Ben’s speech? He thanked the members of the military watching that game...I thought that was pretty cool. At any rate, as a transplant to PA, I’m excited for the Superbowl. I dont’ really care what Dan Rooney or Obama think.

Amen. Nah, I was just stirring up trouble LOL! It will be a good game but I’ve made a small wager on the Cards so it just adds to the flavor.

That’s cool, two good QBs. But there’s only one that is God’s Quarterback: Kurt Warner.

What a good guy.

I don’t really have strong feelings overall about either Superbowl team this time (I’m a Colts fan), but I’m definitely pulling for Warner.

Ben’s a good guy too....every year the Steelers send one of the team to my daughter’s school for the deaf in PGH - this year it was Matt Spaethe #89. She was so excited. She is 5’ tall and he is 6’8”... she was amazed at his size!

That’s cool. The Steelers sound like a fine organization. Didn’t know that Ben was that big either. I always thought he was a little shorter. Whoa, he’s big.

There’s no one to root against in this one. Last year it was such a pleasure seeing the Patriots bite it.

We had such a good time here after the game in Eli Manning’s home town.

Kurt’s one of the reasons that Sunday should be very entertaining for the football fans.
