"Yesterday a squall hit downtown that was really wild. Sheets of sideways rain, high winds, the works." I took a walk downtown during such a weather event. I call it "The day it rained umbrellas."
There were umbrellas everywhere; in trash bins, gutters, under car wheels, and occasionally, presciently still folded in their owner's hands in the rain.
I put my glasses in a pocket, pulled my parka hood tight, and trudged.
