We shaved our boys’ heads! My viola player left a message saying she’d missed the time change.

We had one member of our parish who missed by setting her clock back instead of forward...

Oops. Our Spanish service is at 1:00 p.m., so the congregation had time to realize what had happened and still be as punctual as Spanish-speaking people ever are.

We had a double-whammy due to last night's snow. Folks further north were snowed in.
Just got the word: I'm off to Finland next month!

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It’s the country for me.
You’re so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
You’re so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
Finland has it all.

Ugh. I don’t do unfamiliar meats very well. Familiar is sometimes difficult enough.

At least it won’t be the dead of winter. They must have something with vegetables you can eat.

Whoa.
I took an unexpected nap. The mattress snuck up on me and pulled me back to bed!

A colleague (and host) from Helsinki says the winter climate in Helsinki is very similar to Seattle’s — in both cases moderated by a large body of water. (I’ve heard the same about Ketchikan, AK, too but you don’t have to go far inland before it changes dramatically.)

Just like Calvin’s! It was tough going for a while, so I just gave in and it relaxed and let me spread out. It was warm, too!

We lived on an island across Gastineau Channel from Juneau, and though we had snow, we also had the Pacific Current.
I can’t recall the channel ever being frozen.
