My Uncle sent me that email a few weeks ago. I was way ahead of him; I’ve known about Tony Martin for several years, IIRC. If I were in charge, the journalist who described that criminal as a “lovable rogue” would be swinging from a lamppost by now. Of course, such sentiments about non-combatant fifth-columnists is a good reason to thank God that I’m not in charge. :-)
If I thought I was going to prison for life for simply defending myself/property, there would be a number of bodies to count.
