The Mayor Brian Levine of Franklin Township, NJ told Fox News that their police department was told that there might be some culling of birds. But that neither the mayor nor police knew that there was a plan to kill nearly 5,000 birds or what that would entail for the town. Lawns, gutters and streets were full of dead birds as they literally fell dead from the sky. Residents were left to clean up the mess.

"Established roosts of starlings harbor diseases such as blastomycosis, beef measles, and histoplasmosis. All three of these are serious heath risks to humans. One last economic concern is starlings' presence at airports and especially on runways. Stray starlings that have wandered off onto airport runways have caused aircraft disasters. These starlings clog up engines, causing a shutdown of the plane and its eventual descent. Although starlings do perform some good deeds, they are for the most part a nuisance to our community."
Amazing they can introduce toxins to the area without any local knowledge being given until AFTER THE FACT.
THAT is truly scary.
I would argue that homosapiens are the biggest nuisance on the planet. Should we kill them off too?
Somehow, replacing the nuisance posed by bird droppings with thousands of rotting carcasses just doesn’t make sense to me. Then again, that’s govt. work for ya’.
It’s even scarier when you consider that his ideological mate, Poot, goes after dissenters with Polonium 210.
Hear what you’re sayin’. Just wonder what the next species will be. From birds to babies to grandparents to the guy with a quarter in his pocket..they’re just a nuisance and have to go! Yep..have to go!
I was lookin’ into this..curiosity and all of that. Seems they “bait” with untreated rice to get them coming to a spot. Then they poison the rice and it’s lights out.
You will be glad to know that it only takes the birds 1-3 days to die..and they said it’s not a “violent” death. What the heck does that mean?
It’s the culture of death in this country that sours me on anything like this.
Just cull the ones with the (D) after their names.
Id have to agree. Im sure we havent heard the last of this.
I really don’t have a problem with trying to manage massive populations of flying rats.
I just wonder what happens to falcons, hawks, cats and dogs after they eat the dead birds?
Where is PETA?
THAT is NJ........
I remember a story about one city squirting blackbirds with soapy water during the winter. The soapy water washed away their natural oils and they froze to death.
hmmmm...I’m sure it was painless!
