What I wrote above was only a small portion of what I witnessed. Just about anything you can imagine the most extremist people doing there I actually witnessed and overheard. They were extremely rude and pushy while leaving. Our group of students got seperated many times and we would have to gather them all up again so as not to lose anyone in the city. It was unbelievable that my fellow countrymen would behave in such a way.
The trash on the National Mall was just horrible. Unbelievably disrespectful. Literally stacks of everything immaginable. I was proud of our group for trying to clean what little they could. Our group of students was the only thing that I can report good from the entire event.
I can also tell you that based on things I overheard Mr. King’s dream was not realized. Many people voted for Obama based on the color of his skin and not on his character.
I was deeply saddened by the whole experience. I was however hopeful after seeing our group of young people not join in and seeing their expressions towards the extremist. I waited to see how they would respond and they gave me much hope for our future.
Living in flyover country I never realized how many extremist leftist there are in this country. It was quite an eye opener.
Exactly how far did this go? You say ‘anything you can imagine the most extremist people doing’ yet in the past decade in the area where I now live, there have been arson, mobs, people spraying alcohol all over people, blockading streets, driving vehicles where they don’t belong, blasting music, rioting, public sexual activities, car-flipping, excessive graffiti, and just causing general chaos and disorder and this is when they’re happy for something that’s relatively inconsequential and usually totally apolitical. So, I don’t WANT to know what would happen if they ever got really and truly angry...
