Vanity: A Mark Levin question: Who ARE "the backbenchers"?
Vanity ^ | Vanity | Vanity

Just who ARE "the backbenchers" that Mark talks about? I sometimes think I have a hunch, but I rarely hear the ones I suspect are the backbenchers, so I'm not at all sure.

Joe Pyne - That was a great show.

I’ll always remember the night he had Anton LeVey, of the Church of Satan, on the show. Pyne mentioned that LaVey wasn’t wear his devil horns, and without missing a beat, Lavey said, “I wasn’t feeling horny tonight.”

To a 15 or 16 YO kid back then, that was a very funny comeback. My buds and I LOLed.

RE: "I know Ingraham is one of them because Levin referenced a ‘back bencher’ who dated olberman(or went out on a date with him)."

In a lot of ways Savage and Levin are alike -- brothers even. IMO.

To wit, Savage has a name for Ingraham also owing to the fact that she works with a man Savage hates, Bill O'Reilly. Savage's "cute" name for Ms Ingraham? Transsexual with a cross.

Savage's schoolyard-name-calling of fellow conservatives is a BIG minus but the good he does (so far) outweighs the bad, and I've be listening for 12+ years. The childish name calling of fellow conservatives (competitors, radio and books) is a recent thing.

Speaking of books, if I typed in what he calls Ann Coulter I'd sear the thread's pixels.

I also think he is talking about O’Reilly. There was one show in particular in which he tore into BOR.

Actually I never heard Pyne's radio show. I liked his TV show. At the time where I lived (Cincinnati) there was great daytime local radio (1950s and 60s). No! NOT top-40.

WE MUST STOP THE "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE!" Our Republic could not survive another round of AM Top-40!

That one was on his TV show, probably in ‘65 or ‘66.

Then there was the Frank Zappa interview. Pyne said to Zappa, something like, “I suppose you wearing long hair makes you a girl.”

Zappa replied, “Yeah, just like your wooden leg makes you a table.”

Or something like that.

If any veterans or family members of a veteran, find my last reply offensive, I’ll ask the mods to zot it.

Levin became a back bencher when he dodged the BC issue.

Let us not forget that. And he describes himself as being the great defender of the Constitution. What bunk!

For me, Mark Levin has become the not-so Great One.

RE: offensive comment

Yes, I recall reading about the Zappa comment.

I don't think that it should be offensive. It recognizes W.W.II Marine Joe Pyne's combat where he earned medals and was wounded losing part of a leg. But I will of course defer to combat veterans.

But let's not forget that Pyne topped the guests most of the time. A conservative he was anti-communist, absolutely supported our troops and mission in Viet Nam, against promoting "gay life styles," and pretty much reflected what we see in conservatives today.

You’re right, of course, but I knew nothing of conservative, liberal, whatever, back then. IIRC, I knew who was President, but not much more.

SIGH, the simplicity of youth.

;-)

Another Joe Pyne story that applies today. Absolutely! Pyne was a conservative and critic of JFK's policies as was the majority of the emerging modern conservative movement.

The liberals tried everything to blame the movement's criticism of JFK as the motivation for Oswald. BJ Clinton tried the same dastardly device to blame the OKC bombing on conservative talk radio.

The same contrived and false charges of "hate" are of course a daily occurrence today. Millions of dollars are being spent to monitor and build a "case" against conservative talk radio.

If I recall correctly Bob Grant told how he got his start in radio filling in for the Joe Pyne show after WOR was pressured to take Pyne's syndicated show off the air. That happened across the nation. Pyne lost many of his 250 stations.

I believe that was the beginning of the JFK/LBJ and other liberals using the "Fairness Doctrine" to threaten the broadcast licenses of station owners thus removing political opinion from virtually all of the medium.

They are doing it again. Citizens have defended free speech and freedom from foreign enemies for two-hundred-plus years. We must defend free speech and freedom from domestic enemies: Our free speech and freedom, their blood.

Savage is a front bencher but also a Berkely liberal/Marxist putting on an act of being a conservative, sometimes.

Who do you think Mark Levin is talking about all the time when Mark talks about “Weiner nation”? Michael Savage is really Michael Weiner, long time San Francisco, Berkeley, liberal, communist, snake oil salesman.

Weiner puts on an act of being a nationalist but he forgets that conservatives are also for a limited government , indiviual rights to life, liberty and propoerty ownership, freedom, and free market capitalism which he repeteadly bashes.

When Ingragham was diagnosed with cancer and around when she started treatment, her engagement dissolved. I suspect the guy bailed on her, not wanting to be saddled with a relatively young woman with cancer. That’s the impression I got at the time.

She adopted the child a while ago - her daughter is from South America I think.

Levin is a total A-hole. He thinks FReepers are a bunch of rubes. Who the heck cares what he says?

I have always wanted an opportunity to give my opinion of the various syndicated talk show hosts I listen to from time to time.
FWIW—

Rush is the gold standard. Entertaining, consistently conservative with a great intelligent sense of humor.

Levin, I enjoy, but a little shrill. Ok sense of humor.

Liddy, I actually like GG. He has good guests, states his
position clearly and consistently, and is not shrill. Good sense of humor

Bennett - Not real hard core, but good solid conservative. Entertaining show. Ok sense of humor.

Boortz - Started listening to him local in Atlanta in 1973 Smart, entertaining, good intelligent sense of humor, a little more libertarian that conservative.

Prager - Smart, entertaining, not hard core conservative, but do not see any glaring blind spots in his conservatism. Good intelligent sense of humor.

Hewitt - Smart, entertaining, not hard core conservative, but but do not see any glaring blind spots in his conservatism. Good s intelligent sense of humor.

Dennis Miller – Intelligent, interesting, pretty consistently conservative. Great intelligent sense of humor.

Hannity is dedicated, but really shrill, has no sense of humor and is not too smart.

Galligher is an idiot. He is shrill. He wants to sound like a conservative, but then out of the blue he will come up with some position that is so not conservative it makes my skin crawl. No sense of humor.

Ingram is sort of ok, but a little shrill and the intentional single parent mom thing says a lot about her. She can talk the talk, but not walk the walk. She really is not focused on conservative values. No sense of humor.

Medved is sometimes entertaining, reasonably conservative, but is inexcusably off the reservation on the immigration and several other issues which are absolute deal breakers.

Savage - Off the wall all over the place. Unbelievable egotistical. Dumber than a tree. No core values at all. Will do or say anything to try to get a raise out of his audience and advance his pathetic career.
No sense of anything, let alone sense of humor.

I wouldn’t want to be understood as criticizing Laura for the adoption. It was just a little bit of a surprise that she did it while still single.

I too am sick of the back-benching complaints. I like Mark Levin but I get sick of him running down other conservatives. I spy on some left-wing forums and have seen them chat with joy over the divisiveness among conservative talk show hosts. They even encourage each other to email hosts to try to fuel this divisiveness pretending to be fans.

I know that Laura and Glenn have been accused of this by Mark. The other day he complained that Glenn falsely claims to be #3 in the ratings. I know Prager is not a back-bencher. I doubt Medved would do such a thing. I like them all. Hearing Savage and Levin waste air time cutting each other down is like hearing your father run down your step-father. If anyone is back-benching, it’s probably hosts most have never heard of trying to get national or more than 5 affiliates.

Mark likes to say, ‘If everyone of you can talk just one person into switching sides and voting Republican, we can win the next election.’ Yet he runs down hosts that help convert dems in to Republicans every day.

I say, grow up and quit trying to destroy hosts that help the Republican party. I really doubt Beck and others are skipping dinner with their families to listen to Levin or Savage.... “Sorry wife and kids, daddy can’t play with you cause’ he has to listen to _ _ _ _ _ so he has something to talk about tomorrow.” Both Levin and Savage come on at night and a lot of bloggers and op-eds write stuff inspired by what their listening to while the write and drink. I’m sure some of that has indirectly influenced a talk show host, not to mention fan emails....or pretend fans trying to cause trouble.

Talk show hosts tearing each other up is exactly what the liberals want. Why can’t they see this? I hope this message get to Levin and Savage.
