and, by jingo, FX has back to back episodes of "Spin City," "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Malcolm in the Middle" on not to mention TBS showing "Home Improvement,' "Just Shot Me" and "Yes Dear."Other channels have entertaining fare on rather than watching the Coronation.
But the best counter programming belongs, however tremendously ironic it may be, to Ted Turner Class Movies, they are showing, as the Oath of Office is being given, the 1957 film A Face in the Crowd: An overnight media sensation becomes the darling of the nation and is soon shown to be a demigod.

Best to watch something, anything, other than the coronation. If one were to watch nothing then it improves the relative ratings of coronation coverage (DirecTV monitors viewing patterns). I won’t be home, but I will leave the TV on (for the dogs) and let them watch non-coronation coverage.
You can’t escape. ESPN is covering it. Even the sci-fi channel and the Food Network is covering the inauguration.
That bit about TCM is funny.
