Well you're not hiding behind the anonymity of internet. I'll give you that. Forums and blogs would certainly be a different place if everybody had to attach a face to their words. I have family members that read FR. I wouldn't want them to know my screen name.

Given that the student was presumably 18 at the time and more than likely consented to the act, I find it difficult to see where a crime was committed unless Iowa has some specific statute that criminalizes sex between students and teachers. Having lived in West Des Moines for many years, I am shocked that this occurred at the Catholic Dowling High School.

Look for many more reports like this, following the court decision that sex with an 18 year ols student is no longer illegal in Washington.

Lol, it is worthwhile to say now and then that this is nothing new. It did happen in those days, but most such news stayed local without all the news outlets that exist now.

I knew of several cases that never came to light. Actually, none ever became generally known during my HS years.

Apparently there is. Apparently Iowa law says teachers can’t do HS Students - age is not a factor.

The only thing that happened to me in high school is that we had a couple teachers, male and female, who drank beer with us after school. One of my friends lived across the street from the school and his dad had a tap and was never home. Heck if they couldn’t find us at luch they would come over looking for us. It was nice to have a couple beers at lunch in high school.
