We have 2 cats, the Birman and a little shorthair kitten that came from a neighborhood stray who had kittens on our neighbnors screened porch.
The Birman is an elegant young lady who is very laid back. The vet said she’s about 18 months old. The kitten is another matter entirely. She plays fetch, she also jumps about midway up the door frame to catch her mouse if you toss it. She is always at full speed ahead, running and jumping. lol She is a firecracker, a real tomboy of a kitten. We’re not used to that! lol We’ve always had Himalayans and now the Birman both of which sleep, eat and drape themselves on you to be petted. lol No playing for them.
Most of mine have been American Shorthair (mutts), although the coloring and sizes and shapes over the years have varied, some dainty little ones that even had Birman-style coloring with the white looking like they’ve been brushed with charcoal in places with blue eyes, and even a very husky-looking longhair with huge feet. I have only two remaining now, the family sadly having been decimated by feline leukemia, all descended from the same cats I’ve had for over 3 decades. One, a calico-colored one of white, gray & tan is nearly 10 years old, but she prefers outdoors (can’t bring her indoors at all, even in winter, she flips out). She acts as aggressive and energetic as a little kitten. Ignore her, and she will hit you on the leg. She outlived all of her kittens. The other one is an orange tabby male, her grandson, nearly 7 years old. They all have their unusual quirks that seem to be passed down, such as movements and habits (one being their preference to “stir” the water in the bowl - had some ice in the bowl, and the orange one just put his paw in and flicked out all the chunks of ice one by one). I worry when these two pass, they’ll be the last of their family (and this time last year, we had 7, the leukemia having taken 3 of them). :-\
What a beautiful cat - inside as well as out apparently.
What a beautiful cat! I’ve heard it said that a cat’s ears never sleep. Perhaps he hears something in the man’s breathing and has learned that it’s a bad thing.
Good kitty.
