My wife and I (way back before kids, in 1983) spent a couple of weeks in France with friends who had a 5th floor penthouse in the 8th arrondisment. (Great pad, with a roof deck and a view of the Eiffel Tower.) Anyway, we spent over a week castle-hopping across the country and Mont St Michel was definitely among the coolest. What a great trip!

We had a rooftop apartment in Paris a few years ago over the holidays. Wonderful experience! We were on a market street, so bakery, markets and bistro were all near our door. The French may be stinkers toward Americans, but France is a great place to spend time.

Mont St. Michel is definitely worth a journey.
