Rourke's point...which he has made many times...is that when you have run everyone who has ever loved you out of your life and you're left alone at the end of it, the only creatures left on earth who will love you are your dogs. He is acknowledging his mistakes and I hope there's enough remaining of his brain to make it all the way back. Bless him.
