Freeping opportunity at Change.org

Posted on 01/11/2009 9:31:14 PM PST by Bushlover Bill

In case you haven't heard, there's a new site called Change.org that has as its founding value change.

This site is deeply deferential to its hero, our messiah Barack Obama.

So why should we get involved with this site? They're holding a contest, "Ideas for Change", and we're in deep danger of getting some of these ideas lobbied intensely for, and even implemented.

People submitted over 7,000 ideas throughout November and December. Their fellow Change.orgizens voted on the ideas, and the top 3 ideas from each of 21 categories went on to the finals.

The top 10 ideas from the final round will be presented to Barack Obama at his onauguration. They will get lobbied for, and Obama will be pressured to make many misguided ideas into policy.

The 87 final ideas include not one conservative idea among them. Among the ideas that would make any red-white-and-blue-blooded American shudder are appointing a special prosecutor for "the crimes of the Bush Administration", several alarmist ideas about stopping global warming, closing Guantanamo, providing housing for all, legalizing prostitution, introducing that Communistic language Esperanto into schools, stopping puppy mills (can't have people being mean to puppies), vegan options on school lunch menus and the DREAM Act (higher education for immigrants).

The ideas already slated to appear in the top 19 include repealing the PATRIOT ACT (a threat to America's security!), ending the War on Drugs and legalizing gay marriage. The #1 idea right now? Legalizing marijuana. Yes, folks, smoking doobies could become legal in all 50 states plus D.C. if Obama takes Change.org's top 10 list seriously.

But there is one idea on this list that no one will be able to take seriously. James Landau has an item on lowering the voting age to 16. Yes, folks, the same kids who shoot each other up at schools, who can't name the three branches of government, who are too immature to be trusted with the decision of applying for a credit card, should have the vote says Gospodin Landau.

So what's the point in all of this? If this item makes it onto the top 10 list, no one will take Change.org's top 10 seriously and Obama will neglect the other, more toxic items on the list. After all, not even Obama was going to legalize dank, right?

To get it onto the top 10, we need your collective freeping power -- the same power you use to vote in large numbers at Vote.com. This is how you vote up Landau's idea.

1. Go to http://www.change.org/ideas/view/lower_the_voting_age_to_16

2. See the box to the left of the item, with the number on top and the word VOTE! below it? Click on it.

3. It will make a window pop up where you type in your name and email and make up a password.

4. Go to your email box. You will find a Change.org email there.

5. Click on the link in the email -- it will take you to this site.

6. You should arrive at http://www.change.org/ideas/view/lower_the_voting_age_to_16

Click on the VOTE! box to the left of the idea to support it.

There you go!

Radical special interests want the most radical agendas possible for their newly anointed saint president. But if we act now, we can stop them in their tracks and present their agendas from becoming the new law of the land.

What’s so great about Puppy Mills?

Do you like the way female dogs are kept in cages for their entire pathetic life? Or, having them made pregnant way too often?

Do you like the way they are thrown in the trash when they can no longer have puppies?

Or, do you like the way the puppies are taken away from their mothers way too early, leading to extreme separation anxiety?

Maybe you enjoy the idea of these poor dogs being kept in filthy cages stacked 3 or 4 high?

I'm with you on the horrors of puppy mills. I've seen enough damage done to animals for no good reason. But I don't think this is something Obama needs to worry his pretty little head about.

People need to be educated about the abuses of puppy mills and encouraged to stay away from pet stores that sell them.

Again, not something the federal government needs to get involved in.

On the other hand, maybe he’ll feel that he has to go with at least one of the other ones, since this one is lame.
