And they didn’t charge Ghassedi with assault on an officer. How come?

Because in many areas an officer has to witness a misdemeanor before the cops will file charges. Measly citizen witensses are not adequate.
A charge would result in a trial and with a trial a lot of inconvenient things happen.Like discovery and witnesses coming forward and maybe there's a security camera tape somewhere...
