Oh, please.

I think you are taking him out of context here. Earlier, he talked about how the fundies are "allowed to preach hate on the street corner" after "a bus was blown up".

I think he meant "how do the U.K. people not shut them up after something like that".

Just my thought.

The correct answer is that the way freedom of speech is enforced in Britain is shameful.

Because there is no First Amendment in the UK, extreme speech can be regulated, but the authorities use these regulations to punish Christians while ignoring Muslim hate speech. The double standard is appalling.

I wasn’t criticizing Rourke, but the way the writer wrote that line. Rourke was not taken back by “freedom of speech”.
