Five Metrolink passengers suffered what authorities described as minor injuries Wednesday after a train en route from Lancaster to Los Angeles Union Station struck a trailer pulled by a truck that had stalled at a railway crossing. The truck driver, who had no license or identification, was arrested shortly after the crash, said Deputy David Royston of Lancaster's Traffic Detail.
The driver and a companion tried to flag down the approaching train after the truck stalled. The engineer braked but could not stop in time.
Deputies said the train was traveling south at 70 mph when officials saw the truck passenger flagging them down.
The truck was westbound on Avenue M from Sierra Highway when it stalled.
"They stop the truck; it stalls as the driver tries to turn it on. They are unable to put it into gear or get it out of the way," said Deputy Michael Montesdeoca of the Lancaster Sheriff's Station.
"So the passenger gets out and starts flagging the train down and the conductor sees them flagging them down. They go into emergency operation procedures - slow it down.
"They manage to slow it down, but not far enough, so the train ends up clipping the backside of the trailer."

This guy was illegal. 99% of the employees in this landscape business are illegal aliens. The business has been reported but no one seems to care about illegals in the AV taking our citizens jobs.
