It might be a death trap as you say, but I'm sure it will fly much better with the Australian 150 HP radial engine instead of the original 110 HP engine where the cylinders all rotated around the crankshaft - creating a large gyro...:^)

The original was an interesting engine though...

I didn’t read it carefully enough. I thought it still had the spinning radial. I saw a clip from documentary once where a recreation with a Spad almost turned deadly, when a pilot lost control.
