Well, I can tell you that Canada certainly lays no claim to birthing an American president. If we could, we sure would....thus, I don’t believe it.

The rumor about Chester Arthur’s birthplace has persisted for a great many years because at one point his parents did live in Quebec. Arthur destroyed any paperwork which would point to where he was born, what his exact birthdate was and his father’s naturalization paperwork. The father’s paperwork was recently located which indicated he did not become a naturalized American citizen until Arthur was 14 years old.
