I do too. I think that is why I enjoyed so much presenting the western states, especially New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. I must get it from my grandfather who loved to camp in Death Valley and Bryce Canyon and Zion. He loved the stark beauty of the desert. He was born and raised and lived most of his life in Massachusetts, but he loved Zane Grey and Louis Louis L'Amour novels. The call of the west drew him out here and he never went back. I understood his love of the desert and red rock country. I can't explain it, but I understand it. :-)
It is an experience beyond words. I fell in love when I travelled the Colorado Plateau in 1989, with a jr. college group. The air and the silence are a positive and uplifting presence to me, and visually I could not ask for more:).
