Our house backs up to some foothills. We had lots of deer coming right onto our property years ago, until a freeway ( 134 for those who know our area)...was built up above us. The deer tend to stay up above the freeway now but will come down after a rain.
We have many Coyotes! and Squirrels live in our tree out front and are plentious! Never seen a JackRabbit close in here...
Now ...Let's see!

Polly, there are deer in the Santa Monica mountains near the Getty Center. I saw a gigantic buck there once. I suspect their habitat is getting ever smaller, though.
Oh, and some friends who live in Pacific Palisades used to see a deer family from their kitchen window.
