Snow on a Winter Day

As the snow falls so gracefully
On a bitter winter day
The little kids watch in fascination
As they beg their parents to go out to play.

When I look out the window,
I see a city covered by a white blanket
And snowflakes that fall so peacefully
Like frozen tears falling down
A broken soul’s cheeks
As they continue crying silently
Until they shed their last tear.

The snow falls and falls
Creating a winter-wonder-land
Each snowflake a different size
While they in a way
Soar through the sky like birds with wings
They look so perfect
In they’re angelic way
Since it seems like
They’re God’s gift sent from heaven
As they keep falling down
One at a time
So peacefully, it seems like the whole world stopped
And the only thing living
Are the little kids playing outside
With the little kids playing outside
With their little red noses
And rosy red cheeks.

The snow finally stopped
And the whole world is alive again
But twas a shame that it couldn’t snow
For a few more hours
Since now the kids must go inside
To take showers and dress in warmer clothes
And to maybe drink hot chocolate too
So I watch them complain
About how the rest of the day will be dull.

The little children go to bed
And the snow starts to fall
Oh so soft once more
But the difference is
That earlier it fell harshly
And now it falls with such grace
As if in a way was
Tucking in the whole neighborhood
With it’s soft white blanket
Is the most precious sight in the world
And anyone that missed it
Is at a great loss
Since the snow is as bright as white;
As white as it can possibly be
So precious; gentle—
As cool and blue
Almost like ‘white dirt’
So tremendously beautiful, it hurts.

Ashes to Roses
