I have XP, which is the one I use all the time, but I have a newer Vista pc, which is sitting in the cabinet until my XP dies, because I hate it! My XP is faster and so much BETTER. I thought it had 'died' a year or so ago, which is why I bought a new one (Vista), and there was no other option besides Vista. BAH! So many of my programs were incompatible with it, but I kept trying to use it and learn how to deal with the problems - then all of a sudden my XP started humming along like new again! It's about 4 years old.

I keep seeing reports that Windows is going to ditch Vista - don't know what I'll do with my Vista machine. Sigh!

My son who works on my computer has a Vista and literally hates it. He has another one or two and probably uses them more than the Vista. He has to do a lot of company work on the computer, spreadsheets and all that stuff that I know nothing about. I bet he doesn’t have Vista on the one he carries with him daily. I’ll check with him and see.

Do you really think they will ditch Vista? All you folks who bought one needs a “government bailout”...don’t you think? LOL~~~

Yes, I heard they are going to Windows 7. Vista just got too much negative press right off the bat and they could never overcome that. Even when they gave people Vista and told them it was something else and they LOVED it, it didn't help. People were just dead set against accepting Vista. And, you are right, most of it was because it was incompatible with programs that they used every day.

There is no reason why you should not be able to remove Vista from your new computer and install the Windows 7 operating system. But from what I've heard it won't be out for awhile, it's still being tested. There was absolutely nothing wrong with XP. No one that I know of was unhappy with it. That could be another reason why people never warmed up to Vista. They just saw it as another way for Microsoft to generate more income while making all their programs obsolete. Also, when you bought a new PC, Vista was forced on people. Now it's different, you can specify which operating system you want with a new PC.

I’ve considered removing Vista and installing XP on this computer.

There are so many things I don’t know how to do with Vista. I want my son to check another email program. Outlook Express freezes my computer.

Maybe someday all of these problems will be resolved. (fingers crossed).
