Rubber Band Day

The West Coast's Snowman

Roller Skating Day

National Marzipan Day

Marzipan, for those of you that don't know, is a sweet creation primarily consisting of sugar and ground almonds.
It is used predominantly by pasty chefs as coating on cakes.

Santa Clara Mission Founded

The mission of Santa Clara was established on January 12, 1777.
Natural disasters did not prevent Mission Santa Clara from achieving great prosperity,
being exceeded at the time only by San Gabriel in the importance of its possessions.

In 1851 the property was given to the Jesuits who founded, and still maintain,
the University of Santa Clara on the old mission site.

Today a section of garden wall on the campus is all that remains of original mission buildings.
Today's university chapel was built after the fire of 1926,
its design a faithful reproduction of the old mission church of a century earlier.
The bell tower contains the original bells sent from Spain so long ago.

What a neat find, with that Santa Clara Mission information, Amy. Much appreciated, thanks. I’ll bet the mission bells sound nice.

As you know, I love the history of the missions. I think that I have never been to the Santa Clara Mission. It is beautiful.

Someday, JK and I want to take a trip to each of the missions and spend a day at each one, starting with the one in San Diego. Jeff would like to photograph them all and I would just like to learn more about them and experience the history of each location.

Neat holiday graphics, as usual, Amy! Wonder how many rubberbands that took for the 'snowman'. :) Of course we don't know how big it is either.

Love the Mission Santa Clara - so pretty!
