And some poetry just for the fun of it.

The Next Step

Oberon, a valiant knight of the old way
with unblemished honor and life he did pay
the final debt of his duty willingly then
knowing he would this way come not again

Now at peace his sword upon his chest
we laid him in carved granite to finally rest
his soul sent to peace and his name in stone
and he at last his grief let it be at last atoned

A silent hero now on a different aspect and plane
beyond the mortal world and all its bitter pains
one who now walks amazed in gilted halls
and wonders at the way fate does fall

We understand not the journey he has to take
where only truth may stand, where nothing’s fake
where so many hearts and souls are but one
here where the beginning of eternity is begun

and a Haiku tossed in for the hell of it

A heart does but dream
in the garden of the mind
as the Heron calls

The God Of Victory
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. —Romans 12:21

In Greek mythology, Nike was the goddess of victory. Nike fought on the side of the Olympian gods, gaining a victory over the mighty Titans. As a result, she became a symbol of winning. But Nike’s alleged powers were not just limited to warfare. She also became a favorite goddess of athletes who wanted to win in competitive sports. The Romans adopted her into their worship and gave her the Latin name Victoria.

In the Greco-Roman world where Paul taught, victory was highly valued. So when he expressed Christian truth, he used words his audience could understand. In his letters, he described Christ as the One who leads us in a military procession of triumph (2 Cor. 2:14-17) and compared the Christian life to someone training for the ancient Olympic games (1 Cor. 9:24-27).

Paul also used the word for victory in reference to our struggles with those who intentionally hurt us. “Overcome [be a victor over] evil with good” (Rom. 12:21). This may mean returning kindness for spite or respectfully setting limits on evil behavior. In either case, an attitude of love cannot be generated in our own strength. But in Christ, we have divine power that ancient pagans could only hope for. Jesus Christ is the genuine God of victory.

Through trials we learn to overcome,
Through Christ our victories are won;
Come lay your burdens at His feet
And find this inner peace so sweet. —Halsey

God will give us the victory when we join Him in the fight.

Well thank you very much. I certainly needed that as I can't seem to shake the ominous feeling that I've had since November. I can't shake the feeling that Ronald Weinland's 2006 prophecy is coming to pass. That’s further reinforced when I see the way that the media and a large part of our population is acting. I’m reminded of Nicolae Carpathia in the Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins series.

My wife thinks I just like doom & gloom and so I wallow in it. Maybe she’s right. Anyway the hugs are appreciated.

AWESOME!!!!!

I'm " a day late and a dollar short " in saying WOO HOO!!!! Love them grey babes!!Thanks Yorkie!!! Last year, a biologist here in California , Peter Sharpe, along with a live cam, gave us a thrill by allowing us to experience the on cam hatching of a bald eagle.

This particular nest was breaking the eggs every year due to thin shells so Dr. Sharpe had consfiscated the egg and hatched it in a lab. Talk about fun for my hubby and myself. We sat all day glued to the cam and then the moment came!

I know, I know... get a life Polly!! LOL

Fewz, I can so relate to your post. I have been dealing so with the " doom and gloom" myself. Focusing today on the bright side of things... or at least trying to!

WARNING
by Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other peoples’ gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

When I Am An Old Man

I shall wear my old slippers whenever I choose.
Have popcorn and pickles while on my armchair cruise.

Dance around in my bathrobe, put my false teeth in a jar,
Make friends of my enemies and talk “love”, not war.

Eat ice cream for breakfast and spend some days abed.
Nod off in the sunshine over books I've not read.
I'll drink milk from the carton, eat peaches from their tin,

And throw away my neckties, grow whiskers on my chin.
Make music on an old guitar to chase away the blues,
And scratch where it itches, forget to shine my shoes.
Wink at the girls and give a big grin,
Notice the sunsets and let the dogs come in,
On Holidays I'll wear fine shirts, plaid trousers that are loose,
And let one of the youngsters carve the turkey or the goose.
But now, we must get to work on time.
Save every nickle,penny and dime.
Be proper and prim, stay healthy and fit.
Pay our taxes and not complain about it.
But maybe I'll begin doing some of these things now,

Like forgetting my manners when I'm eating my chow,
So our friends will recognize me on that far away day,
When suddenly I am old and begin acting that way!
