I'm sitting here in Fort Worth listening to our neighbors from the south empty their guns into the air. They've been at for about a half hour now. Mostly nine milimeters (14 to 17 shots) and .320 autos (6 to 8 shots and not as sharp) but the spooky ones are the AKs, also a few shotguns. It's not as bad as it used be when it sounded like a full scale infantry battle, now it's more like fair sized fire fight.

Anybody else listening to gun fire tonight?

Yes, indeed. Over here in the far northeastern Texas Piney Woods, (immediately after I kissed my wife at midnight) I followed our long-standing family tradition of firing the same number of rounds as the last digit of the incoming year.

So, I fired nine rounds of 9mm -- waiting long enough for the echoes to die out between shots. BUT, I stepped out the back door, and fired them safely downrange into the backstop berm of my backyard pistol range...

Happy New Year over there in my wife's hometown!
