Should make for some more cute Apple commercials.
I'll get the popcorn...
Oh yeah.
And I'm Robert Redford. Did ya know that stupid Lamborghinis need oil changes?
Italian cars suck!
Leap year bug zaps Zune music players
It wasn’t a very Happy New Year for owners of Microsoft’s Zune.
Thousands of the MP3 music players froze on New Year’s Eve around the world due to what Microsoft described as a bug in the device’s internal clock.
The bug only affected the original, 30-gigabyte version of the music player that was introduced by the Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft in 2006 as its answer to Apple’s wildly popular iPod.
Later devices with 80GB and 120GB of memory were not affected.

No Windows application has ever before violated Microsoft’s own UI standards as blatently as Zune software. It is a true crime against all that is good and reasonable.
Oh, did I forget to mention a few other things? How incredible. Ya know, when Fable came out on Xbox mine broke, it was the original one, I had to send in my xbox 360 for the red ring of death, my zune constantly restarts while I’m playing, and oh yeah, guess what else? When I first obtained my zune, I brought it home, got the zune software on my computer, but couldn’t do anything. I called customer support and the guy on the other end was no help, telling me that I was lucky to even get the software on my computer, which had Microsoft Windows XP Media Center, which I had to reformat my computer to get and find out on my own. Then about a year and a half after that, I had to reformat again, forgot what I did wrong because of how long it’d been, and I spent about 2-3 hours on the phone with customer support finding out the problem.
So, still think my hatred of them is frivolous?
Yeah, I completely agree. Even then, I’m not sure I’d come back, they have failed so much it’s incredible. There’s a pattern of failure there that would destroy most any companies and get most any executives fired after such a long line of it.
what kind of company make such a simple error after all of the work done for Y2K? They teach how to calculate leap years in the first semester of programming 101.
Vista happens.
I am working on the Y10K problem, where we get 5 digits in the year.
Send $1 to me and I will make sure your computer will handle the date changeover. Promise, I will give you your money back if it doesn’t work.
......Bob
I read the story at Yahoo! News and thought for sure it was some sort of hoax, so I turned on my 30 GB Zune at 10:30 p.m. (Pacific time) and it froze.
I love my Zune. I will never buy anything from Apple - Go ahead and flame away Mac Addicts.
The fix is in...

I am letting my Zune’s battery drain rather than cracking it open (voiding the warranty) to temorarily disconnect the battery jack.
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
Hmmm....and my iPod’s working just fine. ;-)
A disgruntled software nerd left a time bomb in the software.
Mine booted up just fine today. Once again FreeRepublic is the quickest news source out there. Thanks for the heads up. I might have wasted a lot of time on the phone otherwise.
