Well, you made it to alpha freeperhood with that fact check you did on the whiny family that couldn’t “afford” health care. I have been here even longer and have yet to make it into alpha freeperhood. I imagine your 15 minutes of fame was some fun times indeed.
Here’s something I don’t understand: FR used to be teeming with conspiracy theorists, some crazy stuff. Now allofasudden, when there’s an issue with 5 concurrent cases before the SCOTUS, there are FReepers who think the CertifiGate thing makes us “look bad”. WTF?
They said I "attacked the child" when I simply did what the mother asked when she said "look at us, we're the type of family that S-CHIP was made for". So I did what she said, I looked to see what type of families already get S-CHIP (since they wanted to expand it to even higher income families) -and they got pissed.
The family lives in a 3,000 s.f. home with 2 rooftop decks, owns 3 expensive SUV's (Hat-Tip Malkin), sent 4 kids to private school where the tuition was 20,000 per child, owns commercial property under a LLC that has at least one tenant paying them rent, and the father runs his own business.
I got called a liar because they claimed the kids went to the school on scholarship (they later claimed they had to pay $500 per child). Their friend of 10 years (the tenant in their commercial property) said it was his understanding the wealthy Grandparents paid for tuition. (Hat Tip-Malkin)
I also made a comment that was seized upon by many in the nutroots. While seeing the photo of the family in the Baltimore Sun, I said it looked like their new kitchen had granite countertops (in addition to the glass front cabinets). When it came out the countertops were custom concrete the left howled with laughter as if this somehow showed everything I discovered was untrue. The funny thing is custom concrete countertops are just as expensive as granite-but I digress.
I made Olbermans worst person list, had Hillary Clinton badmouthing me, had RUSH reading from some of my FR posts, became an issue in Mitch McConnels reelection race, and had an article run on ABC about the "Firestorm" I started in Washington. It was pretty exciting but scary as the left went nuts trying to track my family down.
The thing is I'm no better than any other freeper. I truly was a "pajama media" who simply did the job of what you would expect the media to do.
Free Republic provides the outlet where, for a few days, ANYONE can be Matt Drudge, anyone can break a big story (see Buckhead), anyone can be a citizen journalist and have as much impact as Dan Rather (or cause him to lose his job-lol)
