good question and dot sights are coming on a bit in popularity for shotguns also. mine are all beads but I am going to try out a dot soon.

Some people actually take the bead sight off. I use it for shooting straight at a page of the Washington Post to check patterns. That’s actually a legit use for the wapo; nobody wraps fish in newspapers any more.
