Have you tried Redwood Creek wines yet? I helped them out at a wine tasting earlier this year at our River Fest and they gave me some of the leftover cases. Very good for the price point (similar to Barefoot, as they're the same company) and good selection of varieties. http://www.blazethetrail.com/

Haven’t heard of Redwood Creek wines, but I would guess Andrew , the liquor manager at our huge A & P would know them—he occasionally orders stuff for me. This Astica label is really amazing, and they have a red that gets stocked along with the Torrontes, but I can’t remember what it’s called-—maybe Malbec. There are SO many good newish wines from Latin America especially, it’s amazing.
I think the more expensive French wines have all but given up on the American market-—I don’t think they understand the psychology of the American marketplace, and how easily we can turn on our less than enthusiastic “allies”, even though Sarkozy is cut from a somewhat different cloth.
Anyway thanks for the tip. I will look it up.
