Three IU football players were named in a probable cause affidavit stemming from a robbery Dec. 17, resulting in IU freshman cornerback Cortez Smith's arrest.

Freshmen IU football players Dennis Zeigler, Darius Johnson and Jarrell Drane were all named in the probable cause affidavit filed Dec. 19.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Smith and the other suspect, Lazell C. McClellon, knocked on the victims' house and stole IDs, wallets, an iPod, marijuana and an Xbox game system.

What went on before ~ the IU coach passed on suddenly. It was too late in the year to get a new coach prepared to run a recruiting system. Somehow the emergency replacement coach recruited a posse more interested in armed robbery than football.

It could have been worse, but this is a lesson to folks running football recruitment ~ these days the bad guys don't wait until their in the NFL to start packing heat and misbehaving.

Ha your premise that these guys arent NFL material is bogus.

In fact these guys already have great backgrounds and training to excell in the NFL.

Rumor has it Jerry Jones is already in contact with them.

They may well have the talent and desire, but they’ve gotta’ learn the moves to take to avoid arrest!

Who cares about arrest! Arrest is part of the gtame!...they just have to avoid conviction... especially if they are starters.

Conviction doesn’t matter if they are good enough. Unless its dog fighting.

Is it even a crime to steal someone’s pot? I think you can’t ask for the protection of the law if you are engaged in an illegal activity.

stole IDs, wallets, an iPod, marijuana and an Xbox game system
they were apprehended when they tried to break in again and grab the frozen pizzas and the toaster oven, along with six bags of chips on top of the fridge.

That's why there's such a push now to sign players right out of high school before they amass too many felony convictions.
