This is who I was telling to "bugger off" - not you!! It's an Australian expression - in keeping with the authors heritage. It means....well, you can guess..! The last paragraph below really got to me...

Dr Glenn Platt, who leads research on energy demand, said Australia got 80 per cent of its electricity by burning coal which pumps harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
