Well I have
Hancock and
The X-Files: I Want To Believe at home now on BluRay and NEITHER one will play on my machine. I have the newer firmware disk that I will load soon.
All of my other BluRay disk played with no problems. Hancock would load and not let me see the start menu. The X-Files let me watch the trailers, but again no menu to start the movie.
I bellieve this could also contribute to the delays. My player is the PAINFULLY SLOW LOADING Sony BDP-S300 that I picked up last December for $380.00 (ouch).
I am starting to watch more movies instantly on Netflix anyway and I'm contemplating hooking upo my tivo to broadband to downdload directly from Netflix).

I have been using Netflix since 2000 and like it. I know they SLOW you down if you watch too many. I only mail 2 a week most weeks now anyway and get new releases over 90% of the time when they are first available.
I am on the 4 at a time plan. I was on 3 at a time plan and rarely got new releases on that one.

Blu ray is not a trend. Its the only way to enjoy HD on DVD.

Recently signed up with Netflix and I'm very pleased with the service. I do not have the blu ray option on my account but in regards to the movies I've requested the turnover is usually one to two days. It's very convenient. All that you say. I live 80 mi outside of Vegas and get a two-day turnaround. I get the older flicks (mostly black & white) and never have a problem. Not much good in the new stuff anyway, so have no use for Blu-Ray.
Not only fast service, but a good follow up, i.e. emails as to when did I ship. I dread the day the owner sells out for then the Bottom-Line worshippers will take over and customer service will go in the tank - to go along with the price increases that are inevitable after buyouts..

Is that Mystic Connecticut in your photo? It was a photo that I copied, I do not know what or where the harbor scene came from.

The coming tidal wave of BluRay knockoffs will fix the availability problem. Thanks LVD.
