Sounds like a plan! I'll check with a couple of local repair shops and see if they can fix the unit. However, given that the monitor dates from 1992, I'm not even sure if they even stock the parts anymore.

Good news! I just talked with the repair shop and they can fix the TV for only US$98 (they had to replace a couple of worn out capacitors). I should get it back by tomorrow.
