Here's the deal. Apparently in the Muslim culture one individual expresses his disapproval of another by exposing the sole of his shoe to the other. That's why they take off shoes in a mosque. When Saddam’s statue came down, a little boy beat it with the sole of his shoe. Cultural thing.
